FoA at Anniversary Reception of Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East?

Friends of Al Aqsa at anniversary reception of Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East

Labour Friends of Palestine and the Middle East marked its one year anniversary with a reception held in Westminster on Wednesday 14th January 2010. Amongst those in attendance were MP's and supporters from across the country.

Ismail Patel, Chairman of FoA, spoke at the reception stating that the issue of occupied Palestine transcended beyond being just a humanitarian issue, but had a global significance due to the duplicity of foreign governments in upholding the rule of international law where Israel was concerned. He stated that the issue needed to be resolved politically and the British government needed to be a friend of the Palestinian people.

Other guest speakers at the event included Welsh Secretary Peter Hain MP, Professor Ilan Pappé and Dr Phyllis Starkey MP.

Friends of Al-Aqsa is a UK based non-profit making NGO concerned with defending the human rights of Palestinians and protecting the sacred al-Aqsa Sanctuary in Jerusalem. This vision is supported by various international groups and organisations. Friends of Al-Aqsa was first established in 1997 and now has an international support base.
