Action Alert: The Government is Determined to Protect Israeli War Criminals?
Action Alert : The Government is determined to protect Israeli War Criminals
In an absurd twist of events, while Viva Palestina activists who ventured across Europe to break the inhumane siege on Gaza were brutally attacked by Egyptian forces; the British government continued to promise to protect Israeli war criminals by changing British laws.
“It is incomprehensible how those people seeking peace and wanting to supply aid to a besieged and poverty stricken population of Gaza are demonised in such a way, while the real criminals, who have been accused of crimes by so many human rights organisations around the world, are protected by our government. This is absolutely unacceptable and we must make a stand against such duplicity in standards.”
The Viva Palestina convoy was finally allowed access to Gaza after waiting for 11 days, going on hunger strikes and being physically attacked leading to 55 peace activists being injured, some of whom needed hospital care.
TAKE ACTION!
The position taken by the British government in protecting Israeli war criminals from arrest or prosecution in the UK is deplorable.
We urge everyone to write to the Foreign Secretary David Miliband to express shock and outrage at the actions of our government, and to raise concerns about the lack of intervention to help the peace activists from Viva Palestina while they were stranded at the port of Aqaba.
We also urge everyone to write to the Egyptian Ambassador to express their views on the actions of Egypt against the peace activists and for aiding Israel in enforcing the blockade against the civilians in Gaza.
